We are advised that there has been no increase in allotments rents since year 2017/18 as detailed below but please check this with the Royal Borough of Greenwich. Allotment fees can be found on their website here
Allotment charges for 2017/18 are to remain broadly the same as in the previous two years although it appears that the concessionary rate has gone up by £2 a rod per year which would mean an additional £10 per annum for the 'average' 5 rod plot:
£20 per rod for Greenwich borough residents, out of borough residents pay £40 per rod, and over 65's and other concesions the rent reduces to £12 per rod.
More detail on the above is available on the RBG website here
Greenwich borough residents:
When you get sent your invoice by Greenwich council you can elect to pay the full amount by cheque or via the online payment system or you can choose to pay annually or quarterly by direct debit
The definition of a rod as used by Greenwich Council to calculate the size of an allotment is actually a square rod that is equal to 30.25 square yards or 25.29 square metres.
The allotment shop at Pippenhall will be open every Sunday morning from June 28th until November 29th 2020. Please see the home page for further details.
Please could all tenants make sure the gate is always shut fully after entering or exiting the site and not to let anyone on site who does not have a key for the gate. There have been a number of instances of theft and sheds being broken into in recent weeks and we would ask tenants to report any suspicious activity to both the police and Greenwich council parks and open spaces department.
One of our members has experimented with growing potatoes in bags over the last two years. Read about his experience and advice to other container growers here
One of the tenants at Pippenhall has recently started a Pippenhall allotment blog. Have a look for yourself and register if you would like to contribute to this community. Click here to visit the blog
We regret that the strimmer is no longer available for hire.
