Pippenhall allotments can be found on the south side of the Bexley Road between Eltham and Avery Hill and are located on the old site of Pippen Hall Farm and meadows. We are not sure how long this site has been used for allotment gardening but we do know that Woolwich Council, the predecessor to Greenwich, were renting plots out in the 1950's.
A map of the location can be found on the 'How to find us' link at the top of this page.
The site belongs to, and is managed by Greenwich Council and it consists of around 120 plots on a gently sloping site with free draining sandy soil especially near the Bexley Road boundary. The site has two buildings on it, the larger of the two, just inside the gate, houses the shop run by Eltham and Avery Hill Gardens Society as well as a tool store, whilst the smaller building is the toilet block with separate facilities for men and women.
The site has five stand pipes and water tanks and has two areas , one at the entrance and one near the southern boundary, where horse manure from a stables in Bexley is delivered on a regular basis.
Currently (September 2022) there are no plots available to rent and the waiting list is closed as there are more than 50 applicants on it.
